Troy A. Bowen

GARDINER – We are sad to announce the passing of Troy A. Bowen, 55, of Gardiner where he lived with his partner Samantha L. Boucher. He passed unexpectedly in his sleep at the Boucher home on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024.

Predeceased are his mother Frances Ellen Bowen and father Arthur Bowen and a son Troy David Calvin Bowen as of recent.

Troy leaves behind his four brothers, Noah Bowen, Clifford Whitt, Raymond Whitt, Bruce Bowen, and sister Lara Lee Bowen. Also, his true lifelong friend Shel McFee.

Troy was a character in the true Maine sense. Born in Canaan and grew up in Skowhegan. Once Troy moved to Gardiner, he said this was his home.

Troy was a very outspoken person who if you met him, you would never forget him. Troy loved working with his hands, making jokes and saying hello to the people of downtown Gardiner. Troy was in the newspaper several times because of his efforts to contribute an area in town Gardiner called “The Rapids.” Other activities are fishing, cooking, art, football, and music.

With the loss of Troy, our pain is a small price to pay for Troy’s peace. He was loved and will be greatly missed!

Troy’s memorial service will be held Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 2 p.m., at The Rapids, behind 26 Winter Street, Gardiner.

Arrangements and guidance are entrusted with Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the Staples Funeral Home website, http://www.staplesfuneralhome.com
