As someone with many, many years spent on this planet I am so deeply saddened at the loss of dignity, relative kindness and mutual respect that once characterized our national dialogues and essentially each of us as Americans. Not that we have not been angry, dishonest, unkind or just plain wrong throughout the years but never have so many felt entitled to simply spew vitriol and nasty, unrestrained, random words without concern for truth or common decency.
We would do well to consider the qualities in whomever we choose as our next president that would have the greatest chance of restoring our collective dignity as Americans.
