The following colleges and universities recently announced area students’ academic achievements during the 2023 fall semester.

Simmons University

BOSTON, Mass. — Two local students were named to the 2023 fall semester dean’s list at Simmons University.

They are Emma Soule of Farmingdale and Emma Parrish of Waterville.

To qualify for dean’s list status, undergraduate students must obtain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, based on 12 or more credit hours of work in classes using the letter grade system.

BATON ROUGE, La. — Susan Crawford of Gardiner, a student at The University of Alabama, recently was initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.

Ohio University

ATHENS, Ohio — Ohio University College of Fine Arts student Rachel Fullmer of Hallowell has been named to the 2023 fall president’s list.

The president’s list distinction is presented to undergraduate students who exhibit an exceptional commitment to academic excellence each semester. Criteria for the president’s list include a 4.0 GPA for the given semester with a minimum of 12 credit hours attempted for letter grades that are used to calculate GPA.

Ohio University Patton College of Education student Bodhi Littlefield of Oakland has been named to 2023 fall dean’s list.

The dean’s list recognizes undergraduate students who complete a particular semester with a GPA between 3.5 and 3.999 with a minimum of 12 credit hours attempted for letter grades that are used to calculate GPA.

Furman University

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Anna Berkes of Winthrop made the 2023 fall semester dean’s list at Furman University. The list is composed of full-time undergraduate students who earn a grade point average of 3.4 or higher on a four-point system.

CARLISLE, Pa. — Grace Stocco, a sophomore sociology major at Dickinson College, has been named to the 2023 fall semester dean’s list. A graduate of Messalonskee High School, she is the daughter of MacGregor and Janet Stocco of Belgrade.

All students earning a position on the list must have a grade-point average of 3.7 or above on a 4.0 GPA scale for the semester.

University of Wisconsin-Madison

MADISON, Wis. — Nehemiah Brown of Dresden and Jorge Hernandez Lasa of Waterville received degrees from the College of Letters and Science, University of Wisconsin-Madison on Dec. 17.

Brown earned a Bachelor of Science in economics and Hernandez Lasa earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Spanish.

Saint Anselm College

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Stephanie Crowe of Farmington and Christopher King of Sidney have been named to the 2023 fall semester dean’s list for the fall 2023 semester at Saint Anselm College.

Capstone Agency, a student-led communications firm at The University of Alabama, provided creative communications solutions for nine local nonprofits during its annual CreateAthon Feb. 16 and 17.

The work of this year’s CreateAthon is valued to be at $44,245.

College of the Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. —  Three local students were named to the College of the Holy Cross’ 2023-24 fall semester dean’s list for outstanding academic achievement.

ATLANTA — Zhanbo Lin of Wilton earned Faculty Honors at the Georgia Institute of Technology. This designation is awarded to undergraduate students who have earned a 4.0 academic average for the semester.

Emerson College

BOSTON, Mass. — Emerson College student Kailey Pelletier from Readfield participated in Emerson Stage’s production of “The Impracticality of Modern-Day Mastodons” from Jan. 24-27 at the Jackie Liebergott Black Box Theatre.

Written by Rachel Teagle, and directed by Joshua M. Feder, the comedic production follows the ambitious character Jess, who wants to be a mastodon when she grows up.

Pelletier, majoring in stage and production management, is a member of the class of 2024.

University of Hartford

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — The University of Hartford named Dakota Jones of Brooks to the president’s list at the University of Hartford.

The list is made up of a select group of students who earned a grade point average of 3.75 or higher in the semester. This is the GPA that must be sustained over a full undergraduate career to qualify for a degree summa cum laude.

The College of Our Lady of the Elms

CHICOPEE, Mass. — Samantha Bonneau of Skowhegan was named to the 2023 fall dean’s list at the College of Our Lady of the Elms.

To qualify, a full-time student must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher, without incompletes.

The College of Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Griffin Brown of Oakland was named to the 2023 fall president’s list (highly distinguished) at the College of Charleston. Brown has an undecided major.

To qualify for the list, the student must have earned a GPA of at least 3.50, on a 4.0 scale, in 12 or more semester hours of letter grades.

Eastern Connecticut State University

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. — Olivia Bourque of Vassalboro, a sophomore majoring in health sciences, has been named to the 2023 fall semester dean’s list at Eastern Connecticut State University.

To qualify for the list, full-time students must complete a minimum of 12 credits in letter-graded courses with an average GPA of 3.5 or higher in the semester. Part-time students are eligible if they’ve accumulated 15 or more credits of letter-graded course work with an average GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Grove City College

GROVE CITY, Pa. — Isaak Flaming of Dresden, a exercise science major at Grove City College, has been named to the fall semester dean’s list with high distinction.

Plymouth State University

PLYMOUTH, N.H. — Several local students have been named to the Plymouth State University president’s list for the fall semester.

They include Kaiden Kelley of South China, Ethan Mousseau of Litchfield, Dylan Flewelling of Oakland, Amber Lafrance of Greene, Riley Johnson of Farmingdale, Sidney Hatch of Oakland and Libby McIntyre of Greene.

South Dakota State University

BROOKINGS, S.D. — South Dakota State University has named Seth Thomas of Kingfield to the 2023 fall semester dean’s list.

WINCHESTER, Va. — Kalina Keller of Knox earned a spot on the 2023 fall semester dean’s list at Shenandoah University.

To qualify for the dean’s list, students enrolled in baccalaureate degree programs must complete at least 12 semester hours and earn a semester GPA of 3.50 or higher.
