Eva D. Dill

GARDINER – Eva D. Dill, 98, of Gardiner and the Maine Veterans’ Home in Augusta died on Saturday March 16, 2024. She was born in Norwich, Norfolk, England on Jan. 30, 1926. She was the daughter of Albert and Edith Hilliard. Eva Married Roland J. Dill of Gardiner who was in the Army, stationed in England, at the St. John the Baptist in Norwich on Feb. 10, 1945. They later moved back to Gardiner in 1945. 

Eva worked many years at Commonwealth and Kayser Roth Shoe Factories and was a long time member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Gardiner.

Eva was predeceased by her husband, Roland J. Dill, who died May 30, 1984; her two sisters, Ciecley Humphrey and Lillian Tuttle of Norwich, England; her two brothers, Dennis Hilliard and Wilf Hilliard also of England; three sisters-in-law, Margaret Hilliard of England, Zerilla Greenleaf of West Gardiner, and Dorothy Lambert of Gardiner; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her son David Dill and his wife Joyce of Pittston; and her two grandchildren, Matthew Dill and his wife Jen of Sitka, Alaska, and Jennifer Moore and her husband Jimmy of Pittston. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Madison, Marina, and Mayla Dill; and Carson, Levi, Charlie, and Julia Moore.

At Eva’s request there will be no visiting hours or church service. There will be a family graveside service held at a later date.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the nurses and staff in Eagles Landing Delta at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Augusta, as well as Beacon Hospice and all who were involved, for the exceptional care of their loved one, Eva.
