Martha “Twink” Day Edwards

FALMOUTH – After a lifetime of love and laughter, Martha “Twink” Day Edwards passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024, surrounded by her husband, one of her sons, and her loving daughter in-law. She was born on April 12, 1943, to parents, Cecil, and Martha Day. She lived in Belgrade and Augusta, graduating from Cony High School in 1961. On Sept. 14, 1963, she married David Edwards and, after living in Bangor for a while, they moved to East Hampton, New York, David’s hometown, where they raised six children. This was enjoyable for Twink, as she loved to take the kids to the beach every day during the summer and work on her tan.

She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to hear a good joke and play board or card games with her family and friends. She enjoyed spoiling her grand and great grandchildren at every opportunity, and always looked forward to spending time with her children and extended family.

Twink’s parents were faithful Jehovah’s Witnesses and shared their love for Jehovah God with her and her sister, Rebecca. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Jan. 26, 1959, and spent many hours happily sharing the Good News of God’s Kingdom with her neighbors, right up until the day she died. Her rock-solid faith in the resurrection carried her through her difficult illness and was an amazing example for her family, friends, and caregivers to witness. Twink was often more encouraging to her visitors than they were to her!

She was predeceased by her father, Cecil Day and her daughter-in-law, Janet Edwards.

She is survived by her husband, David Edwards, mother, Martha Day, sister Rebecca (and Rick) Foster, sons Matthew (and Kris) Edwards, Andrew Edwards, Benjamin (and Antoinette) Edwards, Nathan (and Katie) Edwards, daughters Kim Day and Carrie Huff as well as 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 6 at 2 p.m., at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 8 Cross Hill Road, Augusta. The Memorial Service will be available through Zoon for those unable to attend. The Zoom credentials are: Meeting ID: 822 9372 0539 Password: oct1914 .

The Edwards Family would like to thank Hospice of Southern Maine for their compassionate care these past months allowing Twink to pass away at home in dignity and peace.
