“Harriet Beecher Stowe,” 1893, plaster bust by Anne Whitney Bowdoin College Museum of Art
Sean Kramer, Andrew W. Mellon postdoctoral curatorial fellow, will present a gallery conversation on the exhibition “The Book of Two Hemispheres: Uncle Tom’s Cabin in the United States and Europe,” at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, at Bowdoin College Museum of Art on the campus of Bowdoin College in Brunswick. Kramer will be joined by Tess Chakkalakal, associate professor of Africana Studies and English, in exploring the dynamic visual culture that arose in response to the most famous American anti-slavery novel of its era and arguably of all time: “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” by Harriet Beecher Stowe.
The talk, presented by the Bowdoin College Museum of Art, is free and open to the public. Bowdoin College Museum of Art is located at 9400 College Station, Brunswick.
