Anne Stocco of Belgrade, a senior at Messalonskee High School, has been named the 2024 Principal’s Award recipient. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.

“Anne Stocco is the epitome of a Messalonskee Eagle. She is number one in her class academically. She is a leader in her school community serving as the treasurer for Key Club, the secretary for The National Honor Society and is a member of the Girl Up Club,” Principal Scott Hallett said in a news release from the high school.
“In addition to her club involvement, Anne ran cross country for three years and served as a captain her junior year. Additionally, Anne has completed over 100 hours of community service. She has found time to be a tutor for high school students, a mentor for elementary students, a library trustee for the Belgrade Library as well as having spent 13 years working with a local dance studio where she currently teaches multiple classes three nights a week,” Hallett said.
Stocco plans this fall to attend a liberal arts college, where she hopes to major in either neuroscience or psychology.
Stocco, Hallett and other award winners and their principals plan to attend an honors luncheon at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at Jeff’s Catering in Brewer.
