CORNVILLE — The cause of a structure fire that destroyed a home on Molunkus Road Friday is under investigation by the Maine Office of State Fire Marshal.
The fire engulfed the home before the Madison Fire Department arrived, Madison Fire Chief Don French said.
French estimates his crew arrived to the scene at 1356 Molunkus Road around 11:40 a.m.
“It was a total loss when we got there,” French said. “(The fire) had a head start.”
It is unclear at this time if there were any injuries.
Cornville property records from 2023 list Stephen Provencher as the owner of the property.
Madison Fire Department responded to the fire with Athens Fire Department, Cornville Volunteer Fire Department, Solon Fire Department and Skowhegan Fire Department.
Fire crews were at the scene until about 2:30 p.m.
Shannon Moss, public information officer for the state fire marshal’s office said Friday afternoon the cause of the fire is undetermined.
