Grace Mabelle Moody

GARDINER – Grace Mabelle Moody, 85, of Gardiner, died Saturday, March 30, 2024, at her home with loved ones by her side.

Born in Prentiss on Dec. 4, 1938, the daughter of Harrison and Luvia (McDonald) Glidden.

She was predeceased by her parents; six siblings, Lawrence McLaughlin, Edgar McLaughlin, Olive Glidden Morton, Muriel Glidden, Elizabeth Ranks, Charlotte Moody, and husband Robert R. Moody.

Grace is survived by her six children, sons Robert S. Moody (Tammy) of Randolph and granddaughters Melissa Moody and Jennifer Moody; Roderick D. Moody (Donna) of West Gardiner; Cory Moody of Augusta and grandson, Logan Gardner and partner Britney Williams, and great-granddaughter, Charlotte; Chadwick Moody of Windsor and grandsons Hunter Moody and Gage Moody; daughters Susan Snell (Steve) of West Gardiner and granddaughters Casandra Snead (Andrew), Molly, and Sally Shepard, and great-grandchildren MacKenzie, Kayleigh, Madison and Elijah; and Patty Moody-Dā€™Angelo (Ralph); and survived by in-laws Alton Ranks of Randolph, Jeannette Marshall (Craig) of South Gardiner, and Laura Moody of Pittston.

Joy and happiness for Grace was being surrounded by her family. Throughout the years Grace could be found at the many ball fields and basketball courts watching her children and grandchildren that were participating. She loved harness racing as much as her husband did and could be found on the sidelines cheering on Moody Racing. During the holidays her home was overflowing with her family, friends, and neighbors. Grace loved country music, but her true love was Elvis Presleyā€™s music. Her favorite trip was to Graceland in Memphis, Tenn.

Grace worked in the Augusta and Gardiner shoe shops as a sole stitcher. She would tell you her hardest job was raising a large family and keeping life moving along.

Graceā€™s memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9 at the Highland Avenue United Methodist Church, Highland Avenue, Gardiner. A spring private family committal will take place beside her husband in Oak Grove Cemetery.

The siblings would like to express their sincere gratitude and love towards their sister, Susan, and Steve for loving, caring, and supporting Mom through her illness.

Arrangements and guidance are entrusted with Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the Staples Funeral Home website, http://www.staplesfuneralhome.com
