Judy Lynn Theriault

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Judy Lynn Theriault passed away unexpectedly on March 12, 2024, with her husband, Richard, by her side. She has left her family and friends saddened by the sudden loss.

Judy was born on March 6, 1953, to Mary and Robert Earle. She grew up on Grassland Farm in Skowhegan. She was a hard-working “farm girl” and the oldest of four siblings. Judy graduated Skowhegan High School in 1971. She participated in many extracurricular activities and committees. She was awarded honors for the National Merit Scholarship Qualification Test as well as achieved honor roll and National Honor Society, and the list goes on. She was always very proud to have reached the highest tier of “Senior” Girl Scout.

Judy went on to graduate from University of Maine Orono with a Bachelor of Arts in Medical Technology/Chemistry. She began her career at Redington Fairview General Hospital around 1975. She loved to camp and spend time outdoors in her spare time. She managed to find time to start a family with Daryl Davis and gave birth to her daughter, Erin, in 1981.

Judy began the next chapter of her life working for Dr. Robert Martin and wife, Terry. Terry has many fond memories of Judy; the first being that Judy showed up to her job interview wearing red leather shoes. Terry became a very close friend and many years later introduced Judy to the love of her life, Richard Theriault. They married “Twenty Six Miles Across The Sea” on Catalina Island November 2000.

Judy went on to manage major laboratories across the country. Her career accomplishments are endless. Her coworkers have said that she was a “presence and large personality.” She loved to teach and share her knowledge with young students interested in her field. Her friends have fond memories of a woman who “knew what she was and what she could offer the world.”

Judy was career driven but she did still take time to have fun. There are many memories from Jimmy Buffet concerts to backyard pool parties and those infamous high school “barn parties.” Judy retired in 2018, after working for impressive list of world leading Medical Technology companies. In recent years, when not traveling the world, Judy and Richard spent their summers at camp on Lake Wesserunsett and winters in Southern California. They became active in Thursday trivia nights, attended plays at Lakewood Theater and still managed to spend time with their grandchildren both in Maine and California. During their 24 years together Judy and Richard managed to travel to 40 countries.

Mom, you will be missed, but I’m happy to know that you lived your life to the fullest.

Judy was a daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend, she will be greatly missed.

Judy is survived by her husband, Richard, mother, Mary; sisters Jane, Dawn and her husband, Steve Bearor, brother, Michael and his wife, Ida; daughter, Erin and her husband, Patrick; grandchildren, Maxwell, Finley; and granddog Moxie. Through Judy’s marriage to Richard, she is also survived by stepdaughters Michelle and her husband, Paul, Darlene and her wife, Nancy’ and grandchildren, Trevor, Allie and Samantha.

There will be a service at 11 a.m., on May 18, at the Federated Church in Skowhegan, followed by a gathering in the hall.

we ask that you instead donate to the Cindy Johns Scholarship through the American Society for Clinical Pathology in Judy’s name. This was an organization very near and dear to her.
