Woodlands Senior Living recently announced that five of its 10 locations have been accredited by the Joint Commission, with five additional locations expected to earn the distinction in the coming weeks.

Woodlands Senior Living are the first assisted living facilities in the state to earn this designation, which is essentially a premier status for assisted living. The organization’s Farmington location was the first to receive confirmation of accreditation, according to a news release from Woodlands Senior Living.

“In order to be licensed as a residential care community in Maine by DHHS, there are certain criteria which must be met,” said Matthew Walters, managing member of Woodlands Senior Living. “To earn accreditation by the Joint Commission however, we must go well above and beyond in all areas. This designation is recognized as a benchmark of excellence for a reason. It can help residents and family members have peace of mind that Woodlands Senior Living is providing the highest quality of attention and care at every one of our locations throughout Maine.”

In addition to Farmington, the Woodlands Senior Living locations in Hallowell, Waterville, Madison and Hillside Terrace of Hallowell have all been accredited. The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval is earned by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. The Gold Seal reflects a health care organization’s commitment to providing safe and quality resident care.
