Local author Valerie Bennett has published her first novel, “Lidu’s Awakening.” The story is an action-packed survival tale about a boy hunter named Crik, a shy gatherer named Lidu who discovers she has healing gifts and abilities, and two wolves named Aneko and Kylo. The story takes place on the Eurasian Steppes in the Paleolithic Period.
“I geared this novel for reluctant readers in the hopes that they would feel a sense of accomplishment reading a chapter book,” Bennett said in a press release.
Bennett is a Lewiston resident, who grew up in Buckfield. She is a retired Social Studies teacher and a current substitute teacher in Lewiston schools.
