Clair “Peanut” A. Smith

LEWISTON – Clair “Peanut” A. Smith, 71, a resident of Winthrop, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at CMMC after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Feb. 7, 1953, in Lewiston, the daughter of Walter Bubier and Frances (Berry) Bubier.

She was educated in the Monmouth schools and graduated from Monmouth Academy. On April 3, 1971, in Wales, she married R. Michael Smith and together they raised a family of four children. Clair will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She worked at LaVerdiere’s and Rite Aid for many years.

Clair loved gardening, both flower and vegetable, reading, being at camp, outings with her sisters and sisters-in-law, spending time with family and friends. She was an avid Red Sox fan; she enjoyed listening to the games on the radio.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Michael Smith; two daughters, Christy Andrews of Wales and companion Ken Briggette, Rhonda Smith-Doyon and husband Bobby of Greene, two sons, Jason Smith and wife Jamie of Monmouth, Ryan Smith and wife Beth of Winthrop; seven grandchildren, Evan Hasenfus, Isaac Andrews, Ostin Hasenfus-Smith, Olivia Doyon, Alexis, Reid, and Blake Smith; four sisters, Sharon Smith and husband Rodney of Mayfield, Lorry Polley of Wellington, Cheryl Eva Genthner and companion Ken Mason of Monmouth, Denise Poussard and husband David of Kingsbury Pond; two brothers, Rodney Bubier and wife Patty of Monmouth, Charles Bubier and wife Linda of Canaan, brothers and sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the BRAGDON-FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 707 Main Street, Monmouth, Maine. Visiting hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral.
