Patricia Louise (Raymond) Plummer

WINTHROP – Patricia Louise (Raymond) Plummer, born Feb. 8, 1944, to James B. Raymond, Jr. and Louise Alice (Young) Raymond, earned her wings with comfort, peace, and dignity on April 12, 2024, surrounded by love and calmness. She was a lifelong resident of Winthrop.

Pat lost a brave and stubbornly fought battle from a number of smoking-related illnesses over the past five to ten years and likely longer. Her beloved eldest daughter, Christine, and son-in-law, Mitchell, were by her side, caring for and supporting her (and carrying her when necessary) every step of the way through it all. Her last words were to Christine, who was with her consistently throughout the last few days of her life, telling her she loved her.

Pat was a sensitive and giving person throughout her entire life. She dedicated many years as the primary, at-home caregiver (consecutively back-to-back) to her mother, her brother, and finally, her companion as they earned their angel wings and crossed over into the Lord’s arms. She often gave more than she should have, living up to the saying, “give until it hurts, and then give a little more, especially if it’s family.” She was fiercely stubborn and independent, resisting any protective measure Christine and Mitch took to keep her safe, including calling the Winthrop Police on them after disabling her vehicle when she failed a driving test, character that she was. It did not take the officer long to figure out the situation, with great thanks from the family.

Pat loved to garden, taking great pride in her annual green bean patch under her kitchen window. She enjoyed visits from family and friends and enjoyed them more when they involved a lunch outing, shopping, and great gossip. She and Frank owned a cemetery stone cleaning business for some time…she often said how rewarding it was to provide such a service to her community. She also enjoyed camping . . . once she and Frank got a camper, that is. She also very much enjoyed traveling by car to see and explore new places, so long as a plane ride was not involved. Toward the end, she found a great new joy when Mitch introduced her to gelato ice cream and Mr. Goodbar chocolate bars, she couldn’t get enough of either of those.

Pat was predeceased in life by both her father and her mother, James and Louise Raymond; her sister, Dorothy (Raymond) Pettingill, her brother, Leo Raymond; both her nephews, Thomas and John Pettengill; her wonderful friend, Charlotte Pinkham (known to the family as “Aunt Charlotte”); husband, Frank L. Plummer, Jr., and long-time companion, Richard Davis, Sr.

Pat leaves behind her two daughters, Christine (Mitchell) Muehlhausen of Wayne, Maine, and Kathy (David) Chase of Veazie, Maine. Also surviving is her niece, Tammy (Doug) Gibbons of Sidney, Maine, her grandchildren Ashley (Brian) Holmes of Indianapolis, Ind., Elisha Muehlhausen of Hollis Center, Maine, Michael Muehlhausen of New York City, Stephanie Boutin and Stephen Boutin. A number of great-grandchildren and great-nieces and nephews also survive Pat.

The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to the wonderful and loving staff at Woodlands Memory Care Residence in Lewiston, Maine. Pat was very happy there and adored the entire staff of “best friends.” Also, to her primary medical provider, Christopher Butler of DFDRussell in Monmouth, Maine, who she adored (and she hated doctors). Chris went above and beyond providing exceptional care to Pat. The family especially wishes to thank Androscoggin Home Health Care and Hospice for their constant attention and dedication to Pat’s comfort needs.

A brief visitation will be held Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.

A graveside ceremony will take place upon her interment into the family plot in Glenside Cemetery in Winthrop later in the year.

Arrangements are in the care of the Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin Street, Winthrop where condolences and memories may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the funeral home website by visiting http://www.khrfuneralhomes.com
