READFIELD – Kathleen L. Lyons, 69, died Friday, April 12, 2024 at the MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Hospice Unit after a long battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). She was born on Oct. 20, 1954, to the late Arnold and Ernestine (Palmer) Sproul of Windsor.
Mrs. Lyons graduated from Cony High School and earned her bachelorās degree in Nursing from the University of Southern Maine.
Kathleen served 10 years in the Army Reserve Nursing Corps, achieving the rank of Captain.
Mrs. Lyons worked at the Veterans Administration Medical and Regional Office Center for over 32 years, first as a nurse supervisor in the dialyses unit, and later as the Program Manager for the Womanās Clinic.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Randy L. Lyons of Readfield; two sons, Lucas Turner and Adam Turner, two step-sons, Scott Lyons and Seth Lyons; her sister, Kristine Longstaff; as well as seven grandchildren.
Relatives and friends may visit on Saturday, April 27 from 3 – 5 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. Burial will be on Wednesday, June 5 at 12 noon in the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta.
