DIXFIELD — Kyle Palleschi pitched a two-hit shutout as Monmouth defeated Mountain Valley 5-0 at Harlow Park on Monday.

Palleschi struck out 11 batters and walked one. At the plate, he hit a double. Lucas Harmon had three hits, while Sammy Calder and Rory Foyt each tallied two hits, two RBIs and a stolen base for Monmouth (2-0).

Josh Pollis had one of Mountain Valley’s (0-2) two hits and pitched five innings on the mound, giving up two earned runs while collecting six strikeouts and one walk. Seneca Jones pitched two scoreless innings of relief, striking out one.

 

LEAVITT 17, WATERVILLE 0: Freshman pitcher Trent Holst pitched a five-inning perfect game, striking out 11 batters in the Hornets’ win in Waterville.

Leavitt’s offense gave Holst plenty of run support, scoring six in the top of the first and eight more in the top of the second. Luke Gladu and Reid Sibley had two hits apiece, with one of Gladu’s a double. Noah Carpenter added a triple.

MARANACOOK 10, WINTHROP 5: Three pitchers combined on a four-hitter to pace the Black Bears to the win in Readfield.

Maranacook (2-0) stole 11 bases, including Kody Goucher’s steal of home.

Jaxon August had two singles for the Ramblers (1-1).

MONMOUTH 18, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 4: The Mustangs plated 15 runs over the final three innings to rumble to the win in Dixfield.

Monmouth (2-0) led 3-2 then scored five in the fifth, three in the sixth and seven in the seventh.

Riley Smith tripled and doubled for the Mustangs. Hayli Parson tallied three singles and Bella Lyons two. Shannah Parsons also had a triple, and she pitched all seven innings to earn her second win of the season.

The Falcons drop to 0-2.
