Barbara was an avid reader and enjoyed mysteries. One of her favorite authors was Danielle Steele. She also enjoyed doing Crostic puzzles.

Barbara did beautiful crocheting. Over the years she made many beautiful tablecloths, bedspreads, doilies, baby sets and doll clothes. Her specialty was making afghans and then cross stitching on them. She made many afghans cross stitched with Minnie and Mickey Mouse, peacocks, butterflies, and many other designs. Some were sold at craft fairs, but the majority were given as gifts to family and friends. She also crocheted lap robes that she donated to nursing homes.
