ROME — Pine Tree Camp’s week-long summer overnight camp and day programming kicks off in June, bringing Maine children and adults with disabilities to camp for a summer of friendship, barrier-free fun and freedom to explore on North Pond.
Parents, caregivers and families are invited to an open house set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at the camp located at 114 Pine Tree Camp Road. Tours will be offered throughout the day, and families can check out cabins, see the dining hall, explore the campus and experience fully accessible activities, including: biking, archery, hiking and court games.
Pine Tree Camp’s barrier-free setting and professional staff ensure that outdoor activities like swimming, fishing, kayaking, boating, hiking, biking, archery and camping in a tent are completely accessible to all. Full tuition assistance is available.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
