SACO – Elizabeth “Betty” Grenier, 79, died suddenly on Monday, March 4, 2024, at home.

Betty was born Oct. 15, 1944, in Waterville, the daughter of Henry and Madeline Pelletier.

Betty graduated from Waterville High School in the class of 1962. After graduating, she married Donald and had two children.

On Feb. 20, 1987, Betty married the love of her life, Ed Grenier. They were the light in each other’s eyes. Together they made many great memories, their favorites being with friends and family at East Pond, camping, Old Orchard Beach, and Cape Cod.

Her best times were in the kitchen cooking for all the family. No one went hungry or went home empty handed. She made sure of that. Betty was best known for her pies and cookies at holiday time, her potato donuts and her whoopie pies.

She had many part time jobs throughout her life, but her favorite was being a homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Paul Pelletier; and her first husband, Donald Peace.

She is survived by her husband, Ed Grenier; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Rocky Gravel, son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Jonni Peace, stepdaughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Kevin Batchellor, stepson, Tim Grenier; grandchildren Nick, Kyle, Matthew, Jessica, Georgia, and Sonny; and great-grandchildren, Andrew and Lana.

Betty will be missed by all her friends and family for many reasons, but we think it’ll be her cooking we’ll miss the most.

A graveside service will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery on May 11 at 10:15 a.m. with a celebration of life to follow at the Gravel residence at 98 Shorey Rd. in Winslow.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville. An online guestbook may be signed, condolences and memories shared, at http://www.gallantfh.com.
