JACKMAN — Jaxson Desjardins and Maddox Cuddy became Eagle Scouts, Scouting’s highest honor, during two ceremonies at the Arno Hughey American Legion Post on April 20 and 21.

Desjardins is an eighth grader at Forest Hills High School and the son of Jeffrey and Stephanie Desjardins. His Eagle Scout project saw much use during the recent solar eclipse, when 30,000 people visited the area.
He led a team to complete much-needed repairs and paint at the picnic tables and covers at the Armand Pomerleau Town Park. This included scrapping, painting, raking, adding crushed stone and replacing shingles. This provides visitors with a grand view of Big Wood Pond and Sally Mountain, according to a news release from Chuck Mahaleris, district chairman for the Kennebec Valley District of Scouting.
Cuddy, the son of Edwin and Michelle Cuddy, is a freshman at Forest Hills High School. His project was trail improvements and beautification at the Forest Hills Nature Trail behind the school, including building and installing new flower boxes to replace old ones and removing downed trees along the trail.
