This November, voters across Senate District 15 have an exciting opportunity to elect former city councilor and current state Rep. Raegan LaRochelle to the Maine State Senate.

In the coming months, you’ll likely research Raegan’s voting record (and you should!), so I am going to focus on the bigger picture: Raegan is a candidate for all of us.

As a gay millennial, I support candidates who bring diverse groups together and create strong, unified communities. When I met Raegan, I met someone — an elected official, no less — who shares this vision.

With this vision, we can work together on the common, shared challenges that affect us all.

As one example, older and younger Mainers alike are searching for affordable housing. Raegan, the mother of two teenagers and the daughter of two aging parents, gets this. It’s not a political platform; it’s personal — and it’s practical.

Raegan’s leadership style will benefit all of us.
