AUGUSTA — Passion and Nostalgia, a concert performed by ScheckMate, is set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 16, in the Community Meeting Room of Lithgow Library, 45 Winthrop St.

The performance features pieces that express deep passion, sometimes inward-looking and soft, sometimes exuberant and powerful, with works by Antonio Vivaldi, Giuseppe Maria Dell’Abaco, Julián Arcas, Dietmar Berger and Friedrich Burgmüller.

The first two pieces are performed on baroque instruments (cello and theorbo, a baroque bass lute). The other pieces use a romantic guitar and a romantic cello.

The concert is free, but reservations are required. Call the library at 626-2415 to reserve a spot.
