Lorette M. (Boucher) Beland

AUGUSTA – Lorette M. (Boucher) Beland, 88, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 12, 2024, after a long illness surrounded by loved ones. Lorette was born Dec. 14, 1935 to Alcide and Marie-Anna (Poulin) Boucher.

She attended Augusta schools. Lorette was employed by Hallowell Shoe for over 25 years. She was then employed by the State of Maine in various departments for another 20 years. Her years at Accounts and Control held a special place in her heart.

Before her husband, Armand, passed in 2009, he and Lorette enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, Florida, Texas, Idaho, and Arizona; golfing, playing cards and spending time with family and friends.

Lorette enjoyed going to Bingo, going to Atlantic City; playing cribbage and Texas Hold ‘em; and most especially Poker with “the girls.”

Lorette was a communicant of St. Michael’s Parish. She was a member of the Ladies of Ste. Anne; the Daughters of Isabella; Cushnoc Senior Citizens and Le Club Calumet where she found pleasure in working in the kitchen at various functions. At election time you could find her working at the polls in Augusta.

Lorette was predeceased by her husband, the love of her life, Armand J. Beland; her brother, Norman Boucher; in-laws Ronald and Jeanine Beland, Laurent Beland, Gerard Beland, Gisele and Lawrence Bourassa, Juliette and Theodore Rudnicki, Aliette and Ronald Conturier, Fernande Beland and Lucille Beland.

Lorette is survived by a daughter, Linda Nault and her husband Roland of Augusta; two granddaughters Heather Levesque and her fiancé Jay Biel of Lewiston, Heidi Stratton and her husband Matt of Augusta; great-granddaughter, Nicole Walls and her significant other Tannar Bayer of Lewiston, great-grandsons Matthew Stratton and his significant other Samantha Mank of Readfield, Michael Stratton and his significant other Tessa Chaplin of Augusta; great-great grandsons Braydon and Carson Stratton of Readfield; in-laws Reginald Beland, Normand Beland, Romeo and Linda Beland, Jeannine Beland, Ginette Thompson; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be no public visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 17 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Northern Ave., Augusta. Committal prayers and burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery, Townsend Rd., Augusta.
