Roland “Rollie” Felix Raymond

WEST GARDINER – Roland “Rollie” Felix Raymond, 80, passed away at home surrounded by his family on May 18, 2024. The youngest of six, Rollie grew up in Gardiner, where he excelled in several sports including football and basketball. He graduated from GAHS in 1963 and started his own family in West Gardiner.

Rollie’s love of sport continued by coaching, manning the chains at Tiger football games, and following GAHS sports throughout the seasons. He took great pride in watching his children and grandchildren participate in Gardiner sports. Later in life he enjoyed golf and playing cribbage or poker with family and friends.

He began a career with Progressive Distributors as a salesman in 1971 and enlisted in the National Guard. He retired from service Master Sargent after over 20 years. Upon retirement from Progressive (now Hannaford) as a Specialty Foods Manager, he worked parttime at Hannaford’s in the grocery department. Some might say he was the unofficial store greeter.

He was so proud of his children, grandchildren and foster children. His family will hold dear the stories of their fun-loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy; children (spouses), Nancy (Caleb) Keune, Nikole (Darryl) Nadeau, Naomi (Lance) Raymond, Natalie (Chris) Brann and Samuel Raymond; grandchildren, Quinn Keune, Amalia Ehrmantraut, Callie, Haley and Cole Brann, and Felix Raymond. He also leaves behind his foster children, Tina, Leigh, and Kim, and exchange student Clarissa Corrêa-Ribeiro Queiroz; along with beloved siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of life which will be held at Augusta VFW, 509 Leighton Rd on Wednesday, June 5 at 11 a.m. for light refreshments and sharing memories.

The family would like to thank Dr. Sen and Dr. Majithia, along with the support staff from the MaineGeneral’s Harold Alfond Cancer Center and MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta for the wonderful care they provided Rollie.
