WATERVILLE — Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce and KV Connect plan to host a leadership luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, June 6, at Amici’s Cucina, 137 Main St.
Dr. Katie Spencer White, president and CEO of Mid-Maine Homeless Shelter & Services, will share her vision for future plans at the shelter along with her notable leadership path and lifelong experiences that prepared her for her current position.

White was appointed by Gov. Janet Mills to serve on the Maine Statewide Homeless Council. Over the last five years, she has led Mid-Maine Homeless Shelter through the pandemic, and transitioned MMHSS into one of the most innovative and impactful homeless services agencies in the state.
White’s doctoral dissertation on the experience of justice for unrepresented tenants in eviction proceedings was awarded the Dean’s Medal for Outstanding Doctoral Scholarship.
The luncheon will cost $25 for members or $30 at the door and for non-members.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
