LITCHFIELD — A Lewiston woman has been arrested and charged with the murder of Gerald Marin, 90, of Litchfield, following the discovery of Marin’s body by police on May 18.
On Wednesday Maine State Police detectives arrested Shari Allimah, 55, of Lewiston, charging her with the murder of Marin. She was already being held at Androscoggin County Jail on unrelated charges, according to a news release from Lt. Aaron Turcotte of Maine State Police.
On Saturday, May 18, Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to 1724 Hallowell Road in Litchfield, at the request of a family member. Upon arrival, Marin was found deceased in his residence.
Deputies contacted the major crime unit of Maine State Police, which responded and began investigating the circumstances of the death. Detectives and evidence technicians worked through the weekend.
The Office of Chief Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy Sunday, ruling the death a homicide.
A LinkedIn page for a Shari Allimah, of the greater Lewiston area, states she is a self-employed home care specialist. It is not clear, though, whether the page belongs to the suspect in the murder, who also has that name.
Marin bought the property at 1724 Hallowell Road in 2017, according to town tax records.
The yellow home, with a two-car garage, sits back from the road, a wooden white fence running along the front of the property.
Kennebec County dispatch records indicate a deputy arrived at the home at 2:23 p.m. Saturday and deputies remained on the scene until just after 7 p.m.
