Leighton E. Carver

RICHMOND – Leighton E. Carver, 83, passed away peacefully, May 22, 2024, with family by his side at Mid Coast Hospital, Brunswick.

He was born on Aug. 19, 1940 in Richmond, the son of Weston and Mable Carver. Leighton worked for the Department of Environmental Protection for over 30 years as the director of field services.

Leighton was a longtime member of Masonic Lodge in Bowdoinham and Richmond Fire Department. He also served on many town of Richmond boards and committee’s. Leighton enjoyed gardening, trips to Florida, lawn sales, biking, walking and particularly time spent with family.

He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Linda, of 55 years; daughter, Cathy Gustafson; brothers John, Sherwood, Weston, sisters Margaret and Shirley.

Leighton is survived by his sons Mike and wife Kathy of Bowdoinham, Bruce and Laurie of Richmond; grandchildren Jennifer, Brittni, Tasha, Bruce Jr., Ben, Jason; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dennis. Also, survived by his travel partner and friend, Sally Hutchings.

A graveside service will take place on Thursday, May 30 at 11 a.m. at the Cotton Cemetery, Richmond. A gathering will follow at the Richmond American Legion, Carding Machine Road, Richmond.
