Danielle Mary (Williams) Judkins

SKOWHEGAN – Danielle Mary (Williams) Judkins, 40, crossed over into Heaven on Monday, May 13, 2024 after a courageous and brave year long battle with melanoma cancer.

Danielle was born Aug. 14, 1983 in Augusta. She was the beloved daughter of Brigette (Pokorny) and Curtis Williams. She grew up in Readfield, attending Readfield Elementary School and graduated from Maranacook Community School in 2001.

After high school Danielle struggled with depression, but once she truly connected with God she ended up where she belonged at the University of Maine in Farmington studying education. While there she solidified her relationship with God, who would continue to lead her throughout her life. She also met her best friend, Rachelle (Shelly Lutz) Fitzsimmons, who was always her “ride or die” friend.

Danielle always had a flourish for adventure and was able to travel to many places around the world. She spent a week touring Spain, two weeks doing a study abroad in England, a couple of days in Montreal where she had Lasik eye surgery, and two weeks in Cuernavaca, Mexico attending language school. Danielle’s heart was always in Mexico, therefore when the opportunity to live in Mexico for a year presented itself, she jumped at the chance. She spent the 2009-2010 school year teaching 1st Grade at Puebla Christian School in Puebla, Mexico. It was an amazing year that she would always treasure.

Danielle’s greatest desire in life was to get married and have children of her own. Since that wasn’t happening on her timeline, she continued on her education journey by receiving a master’s degree in Special Education and a certificate to teach English Learners, knowing both certifications would allow her employment flexibility once she did have children.

Danielle was also very family oriented and was always willing to do whatever needed to be done. She was especially involved with helping care for her grandparents as their needs increased. She also spent time caring for the children of her many friends, whom she loved as her own.

Soon after the death of her grandfather in 2013, she reconnected with her good friend, Karen’s brother, Chris Judkins. Since they were both old and crotchety by this time, they knew exactly what they were looking for and had a short courtship. They were married on Sept. 28, 2013 at Fayette Baptist Church.

Danielle and Chris settled down in a farmhouse on a large piece of property in Skowhegan. Shortly after their first anniversary they announced they were pregnant with their first child. Cassity Clara Judkins was born on July 18, 2015. She was the easiest baby and brought so much joy into their lives. Since Cassity was such an easy baby, it wasn’t too long before Danielle and Chris decided to have another baby. Titus Christopher Judkins was born on Oct. 27, 2017. He was the sweetest baby. She loved them more than they could ever know.

Danielle had a large community of friends wherever she went. She had an especially close group of Christian friends at Crossroads Bible Church in Madison, Maine.

Danielle is survived by her husband, Chris, who supported her through every step of her cancer fight; her children, Cassity and Titus, who were the greatest joys in her life; her parents, Brigette and Curtis Williams, who would have sacrificed anything to cure her; her brother, Devin Williams, who she always hoped would get everything he wanted in life; her mother and father in-law, Bob and Jackie Judkins; and her sister-in-law, Karen Judkins.

A celebration of Danielle’s life will take place on Saturday, Aug. 10 at 11 a.m. at Crossroads Bible Church in Madison.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Danielle’s memory to Melanoma Research Alliance/ American Cancer Society at: give.curemelanoma.org.
