To columnist Jim Fossel, Susan Collins and the MAGA crowd bemoaning the indictment, trial and conviction of ex-President Trump as “overzealous” and unfair with claims he wouldn’t have been charged if he wasn’t Trump, need I remind them of ex-Sen. John Edwards.

Following his 2008 presidential campaign, Edwards, a Democrat, was indicted and tried on six felony charges of violating multiple federal campaign contribution laws to cover up an extramarital affair. The judicial system worked properly in both cases.

Enough of the “woe is me (Trump)” BS. For all his crimes and shenanigans, Trump is the last person to deserve an ounce of nuance, let alone any prosecutorial discretion.
