Hall-Dale High School has announced its class of 2024 summa cum laude students.

Karlie Reith, the daughter of Jay and Hesper Reith, is a resident of Dresden and plans to attend the University of Vermont to study biomedical science with a pre-med pathway. She is the valedictorian.

Reith is the founder of newly resurrected Outing Club, is an All State saxophonist, and has been recognized for her artistic talents. She is captain of the track and field team and recently set a school record in the pole vault. Her talents have been recognized as a First Team member of the Mountain Valley Conference in both pole vault and javelin. Her goal is to be a walk-on next fall at UVM.

She was also a member of the varsity soccer team. She helped the team advance to three MVC Championship games, winning it her junior year. She was a recipient of the University of Rochester Book Award, a student of the month each of her four years, a member of the National Honor Society, was recognized as a scholar athlete by the MVC, and numerous content area awards.

Abby Cowing, class salutatorian, is the daughter of Timothy and Kristin Cowing of Dresden.

She was a member of the Jazz Band, Jazz Choir, drama and musical productions. She would readily attend District III events for her musical talent. This past spring she was cast as the lead in the production of “Mama Mia.” Cowing has been an active member of Key Club during her four years and was president her senior year. She helped oversee the Trunk or Treat, which helped to raise money for Camp Sunshine. Cowing is also a member of the National Honor Society.

She plans to pursue a degree in elementary education at Plymouth State University.

Zac Claude, the son of Alan Calude and Erin Skehan of Farmingdale, is a four-year honor student who competes in swimming out of state and is the YMCA state champion. Claude was vice president of National Honor Society and a member of the Key Club. Claude plans to attend the University of Maine to study biochemistry.

Hannah Henry, daughter of Chivon Henry, is a resident of Farmingdale and plans to take a gap year.

She hopes to continue her education at Southern Maine Community College for culinary arts. She received a variety of accolades including the Williams College Book Award, the academic excellence award in AP Literature, and first place for wedding cake making in the SKILLS Competition for two years in a row, and she was named to National Honor Society and the Tri-M music society as a junior.

Henry has also been a star on stage with her acting and singing talents as a member of Jazz Choir, the lead in several musical productions, and sang in “Broadway Disney.”

Zoe Soule is the daughter of Tim Soule and Meagan Bowdoin of Farmingdale.

She has been a two-season athlete and a captain in both. She has been a member of the varsity soccer and softball teams. Soule has helped guide the softball team to four Mountain Valley and State Championships. In soccer she anchored the defense and played in her third MVC Championship game. She also earned first team MVC honors in both softball and soccer as well. Soule was a member of National Honor Society, Student Senate and Key Club.

She plans to continue her education at Simmons College where she will continue to play softball and study psychology.

Rishi Duvvuru is the son of Sailesh Duvvuru and Anitha Parlapalli and lives in Hallowell.

In the fall, he plans to attend Northeastern University to study finance and computer science.

He was awarded the Clarkson School Book Award, he earned the Future Innovators Camp 10K scholarship, and earned awards of excellence in Statistics, Algebra II, and AP Literature. Duvvuru was a member of the Outing Club and as a member of National Honor Society and Key Club and was the treasurer for both. He was a member of the soccer, basketball, and track and field teams.

Delanie MacDonald, daughter of Amy MacDonald of Hallowell and Ryan MacDonald of Readfield, has been a varsity member of the field hockey team, the National Honor Society, and is the vice president of the senior class. She earned all MVC Academic Team and was honorable mention for field hockey.

MacDonald was a member of the Jazz Choir, on the Tri-M music counsel, and was a regular in the many theater and musical productions that Hall-Dale High School produced. She was also awarded the University of Rochester, Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Book Award.

She plans to attend Wheaton College to study business management and English.

Ben Nathan, son of Debra Nathan of Hallowell, was a constant at varsity sporting events as goalkeeper for soccer, center for the basketball team, and tending first base. Nathan’s efforts were acknowledged by the MVC as he made the conference teams in soccer, basketball, and baseball.

He was also a McDonald’s All Star in basketball. He captained all three sports. Nathan copped the overall Excellence Award, awards in UMA Biology, AP Literature and US Studies. He was president of National Honor Society, vice president of Key Club, and photographer for the Outing Club.

In the fall, Nathan plans to attend the University of Maine to study kinesiology with a focus towards physical therapy.

Emily Seymour is the daughter of Richard and Jennifer Seymour of Hallowell.

She has spent many hours volunteering in the greater Capital area. She spent a good amount of time over the past four years supporting the Avian Haven (a bird rescue nonprofit), the Hallowell Food Pantry, mentoring middle school students, and assisting with the Special Olympics.

Her volunteerism impacts animals, those in need, students in need of a friend, and supporting the special needs population. She has also been active in the Hall-Dale musical productions as the stage manager. Seymour has taken on various roles in both drama and musical productions on the stage. She is also active in both National Honor Society and Key Club.

Seymour plans to attend the University of Maine at Farmington to major in teaching secondary education with a life science concentration.

Hayden Madore Jennifer D. Bechard

Hayden Madore, daughter of Jamie and Ryan Madore, is a resident of Hallowell and plans to attend St. Joseph’s College in the fall.

She plans to study nursing. She also wants to be a contributing member of the Monks women’s basketball team.

She was a recipient of the St. Michael’s College Book Award in junior year and was honored in senior year as an MVC All Academic recipient. Madore was a four-year varsity soccer player where she helped guide the team to three MVC Championship appearances, she was a member of the National Honor Society, and played varsity basketball for four years where she served as team captain for two seasons. She helped support the team to a State Championship in 2022 as well as three MVC Championship wins and a Regional Championship in 2024. Madore scored her 1,000th point in January.

She earned numerous athletic awards throughout high school, including being named to the MVC 1st team for basketball during her four years and her sophomore through senior years in soccer. Madore volunteered as a coach for Bulldog Strong Basketball Camp and conducted individual youth basketball training.

Nick Dyer Submitted photo

Nicholas Dyer is the son of Alison and Calvin Dyer of Hallowell and Farmingdale. He was a member of both the varsity soccer and track and field teams. He earned MVC All Academic honors and was the most improved male athlete for track his sophomore year.

He has excelled at band over the past four years and has been a constant in the brass section. As part of National Honor Society Dyer represented Hall-Dale at a local residential facility to help the elderly with tech lessons on their computers and other devices. He also participated in Key Club. His passion is engineering, and he has been part of two pit crews in local auto racing.

Dyer plans to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Maine.

Austin Lizzotte, a resident of Farmingdale, is the son of Sherie and Chris Lizzotte.

He plans to attend the University of Maine in the fall to study kinesiology and physical education. He was recognized as part of the MVC All Academic Team, and was provided awards for excellence in math, English, French and forensics. He was also the recipient of the George Eastman Young Leaders Award. Lizzotte was a four-year member of the football team and part of a 2021 state championship team, participated in wrestling, and captained the track and field team.

He lettered in all of his sports and placed third and fourth in the MVC Championships for shot put and pole vault. He was also a member of the Key Club, National HonorSociety, the Outing Club, and jazz band. He earned him a spot at high school powerlifting nationals this past year.

Aubrey Gilbert Submitted photo

Aubrey Gilbert is the daughter of Suzanne and Joey Gilbert of Farmingdale. Gilbert played soccer and basketball all four years. She kept many defenses at bay as she helped her team advance to three MVC Championship games. Playing at the low post she contributed to the basketball team winning two MVC championships and a state championship.

In soccer she was an MVC All Star, Central Maine All Star and Class C Regional All Star. Gilbert was a member of the MVC All Academic Team and placed second, for nursing skills, in the SKILLS USA competition. She has been a member of National Honor Society, Key Club, and has logged in excess of 150 hours helping out at the Bulldog Strong Foundation, Special Olympics, and school events.

Gilbert plans to attend Southern Maine Community College in the fall as a nursing major focusing on labor and delivery and will be playing soccer for the Seawolves.
