The Gardiner’s Gardeners have utilized Project Canopy awards to add flower gardens at the Waterfront Park, the overflowing planters lining Water Street, and added landscaping along the Cobbosee Stream and the Gardiner Commons.

Funds from these grants helped Gariner’s Tree Committee complete a three-year master plan established to add 30 trees to the Gardiner Common. Created in response to the loss of several trees in the park over recent years, the plan includes restoring tree plantings in locations as originally planned in Gardiner’s town square, according to a news release from the city.

Buildings and Grounds and Public Works crews, along with volunteers, recently planted three new trees on the Common. They represent the finale for the 33 new trees from the Project Canopy work.
