BATH — The Kennebec Estuary Land Trust’s Explore the Estuary Trail Challenge is scheduled to run from Monday, Aug. 12, to Saturday, Oct. 26. For each mile participants log during that time, KELT’s sponsors will match with $1 as a donation to the trust.
Participants can sign up as an individual or as a team, and KELT invites them to log miles walking, running, biking, wheeling, paddling and strolling. Anyone can participate, no matter the fitness level, preferred trail use, income or availability.
KELT will host activities, such as the Trail Challenge Passport and weekly group events, with chances to win prizes every step of the way. The group events will range in activity, location in the estuary, and difficulty level.
Find more details at kennebecestuary.org/trail-challenge or call 207-442-8400. Individuals and businesses who don’t want to log miles but want to support the community effort can join the Trail Challenge as sponsors.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
