LOWELLTOWN — U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents located a Tennessee man on the run from attempted murder charges at an old Canada/U.S. border crossing, according to police.
Larry Wayne Cole III, 19, of Liberty, Tennessee was detained by Border Patrol near a former Canada and U.S. border crossing in Lowelltown, about 40 minutes east of Lac Mégantic, Quebec, or just two hours north of Coburn Gore Plantation.

Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols said in a Monday press release that around 12:39 a.m., Border Patrol agents were alerted to a vehicle at the former boundary crossing. Shortly after, agents located the vehicle and identified its driver as Cole, wanted in Gallatin, Tennessee, for criminal attempted first degree murder.
The agents delivered Cole to Franklin County Detention Center where he was arrested as a fugitive from justice.
According to a Gallatin Police Department press release, Cole is wanted for stabbing husband Daniel Cole at a Walmart at 1112 Nashville Pike on July 30. Larry Cole fled in a 2023 Volkswagen Jetta bearing Tennessee plate “LARRY.”
Nichols said the vehicle in which Cole was discovered was the same vehicle that he drove away from the Gallatin Walmart.
Cole is being held at Franklin County Detention Center without bail pending extradition to Tennessee.
