I read with interest a letter in the Sunday, Aug. 4, Kennebec Journal. Larry Davis’ letter “Hallowell budget bad for taxpayers” says it all!
Low- and medium-income taxpayers are being overlooked and now we are faced with paying more taxes to Hallowell to keep special interest groups afloat. A healthy community serves residents of all incomes and is not merely a playground that caters to the well off. The long-term results of a special interest process will be to drive low- and moderate-income people out of town due to higher and higher taxes.
What taxpayers in this community believe the town must support special interests over the needs of all?
