LINCOLNVILLE — The biannual Maine Coast Men weekend retreat is set for Friday night to Sunday afternoon, Oct. 18-20, at Tanglewood 4-H Camp, 1 Tanglewood Road. The program is coordinated, led and supported entirely by participants.

People can join a community of men for a retreat of sharing and support. All self-identified men are welcome with respect and good will to be part of Maine Coast Men. The theme of the October weekend is Awakening Our Potential, according to a news release from Dan Kirchoff with Maine Coast Men.

To protect fellow men, attendees are required to take a COVID test at home on Thursday, Oct. 17, and bring proof of a negative result (a photo or the test kit itself) to the weekend. An additional COVID test is required to be taken when arriving for the weekend. After a negative result, one may proceed to the main lodge. Appropriate masks are strongly encouraged inside, and social distancing outside. People should not come if been exposed to someone with COVID or have COVID symptoms.

Friday night’s meal is a potluck. All other meals are planned and prepared by a volunteer crew. Everyone contributes by cooking, washing dishes, moving firewood and tending wood stoves. Saturday workshops are put on by participants on a variety of topics.

Saturday night will feature a variety show, where men who want to “can show off what they know, or maybe have fun with what they don’t.”

The cost is $100 for the entire weekend and $40 for Saturday only. Support can be arranged for those who have special needs.

MCM offers any new attendee to come for free, partial payment or pay the full fee if one chooses. Advance registration is required; for more information, and to register, visit mainecoastmen.net.
