Open Book Players will present “Reading Rumpus” at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22, at Johnson Hall Opera House in Gardiner. This readers theatre presentation includes a cast of seventeen children and adults and performances will feature the works of Maine Children’s Books authors and illustrators.

Books featured include: “The Lobster Lady” by Alexandra Hinrichs and illustrated by Jamie Hogan; “I am Made of Mountains” by Alexandra Hinrichs and illustrated by Vivian Mineker; “Skywatcher” written and illustrated by Jamie Hogan; “Hidden Hope: How a Toy and a Hero Saved Lives During the Holocaust” by Elisa Boxer and illustrated by Amy June Bates; “One Turtle’s Last Straw: The Real-Life Rescue That Sparked a Sea Change” by Elisa Boxer and illustrated by Marta Alvarez Miguens; “Sparrow Being Sparrow” by Gail Donovan; “Trucker Kid” by Carol Gordon Ekster and illustrated by Russ Cox; and “Lost Trail” by Donn Fendler with Lynn Plourde and illustrated by Ben Bishop.

Authors and illustrators will be at the event to autograph their books which can be purchased onsite from a representative of Mockingbird Bookstore in Bath.
