Artists from western Maine will exhibit original fiber artwork celebrating color and texture with garments, art quilting, and embroidery. The art group at Matolcsy is largely known for accomplished painters; yet in this exhibit witness their talents using fiber as a form of expression, according to a news release from Michael Everett with Western Maine Art Group.

Several artists partnered with the curator, Kat Beauregard, who paired their paintings with original fiber art inspired by the piece. Kat’s Three Hooty Owls in a Pear Tree is a whimsical interpretation of Suzanne Hardy’s colored pencil works Pear Harvest and Night Vision. Well-known painters Barbara Traficonte and Sandra Pealer are exhibiting a handspun and knitted sweater and a vibrant patchwork jacket. Imaginative works include old bones, deconstructed socks, and fur. Over ten artists are participating. Stop in and enjoy the texture, the color, and the diversity of western Maine artists.
