AUGUSTA — The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is set to host the Outdoor Skills Program fall session from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, at Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine Outdoors Center, 2273 North Belfast Ave.
The free program is for people interested in learning about fishing, hunting, trapping, wild game cooking and more. Hunting and angling are great ways to enjoy the outdoors and provide sustainable food sources, according to a news release from the department.
Trapping, often overlooked, is another great way to be outdoors, offering many benefits in conservation and self-reliance. Shooting sports and wilderness survival skills compliment these activities and will prepare one for all that the Maine outdoors has to offer.
Participants will be lead by top-notch instructors, get hands-on experience, and all the gear needed for each workshop. They should come prepared for a day outside, rain or shine.
This workshop is for ages 12 and older. Children ages 12-16 must be accompanied by an adult.
To register or for more information visit the Maine Departments of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife website.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
