Pamela Jean Reynolds

READFIELD – Pamela Jean Reynolds, 69, of Readfield, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Augusta with her sister and nephew by her side.

She was born on Feb. 24, 1955, in Gardiner, to Chester L. and Leona (Hinkley) Reynolds. Pamela graduated from Gardiner Area High School in 1973 and proudly joined the U.S. Army that same year.

In 1977 Pamela graduated from U.S. Army Practical Nurse school in Ft. Ord, California. In 1979, Pamela transitioned to the U.S. Army Reserves, where she worked at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, until her retirement from the Reserves as a Master Sergeant in 1997. During her distinguished career, she was called back to active duty in 1991 in support of Operation Desert Shield / Storm, deploying to Saudi Arabia to help establish a new civilian hospital. Pamela was awarded the Bronze Star for her contributions during the campaign.

Pamela lived in San Antonio, Texas, from 1981 to 1998 before returning back to Maine. In 2014, she married Karen Staggs, and their marriage brought her immense joy until Karen’s passing in June 2024. Together, they cherished summers at their camp, enjoying puzzles, lots and lots of fishing, and tending to yard work. Pamela also found great joy in spending time with family and friends, especially her dear mother, Leona.

Pamela is preceded in death by her parents; wife Karen Staggs; three brothers, Chester Jr., Paul and Peter.

She is survived by her sister Diane Witt, husband Jerry, and their daughter Zoe of Deming, Washington; two nieces Lianna King of San Antonio, Texas, Stacey Durasinovic of Dripping Springs, Texas, and a nephew Aaron Reynolds of Richardson, Texas.

A military service honoring Pamela’s life will be held at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery – Chapel, 163 Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta, at 1 p.m., on Monday the 21st of October 2024.

She will be remembered for her courage, compassion, and unwavering love for her family and friends.
