A Saco man is facing arson and burglary charges after he was accused of starting a fire at a residence in Biddeford early Sunday morning.

Biddeford fire and police, plus several departments from surrounding towns, responded to 34 Proctor Road in Biddeford early Sunday morning after reports of a structure fire.

The residents were home at the time of the fire but made it out safely, said Maine State Police spokesperson Shannon Moss.

The fire destroyed the garage of the residence and damaged the home, Moss said. No one was injured.

The Office of State Fire Marshal was called in to investigate the fire. Investigators accused Richard Olin, 42, of Saco, of starting the fire. He was charged with one count of arson and one count of burglary.

Moss said Olin did not live at the Proctor Road home but knew the occupants.

The fire is still under investigation, and additional charges may be brought against Olin, Moss said.
