WATERVILLE — University of Maine Cooperative Extension plans to host the annual Maine Forage Conference from 9 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at Governor’s Restaurant, 376 Main St.
The conference, which will feature a trade show with business vendors, is an opportunity for members of the dairy, equine and livestock industries to network and learn about forages from subject matter experts and colleagues.
Speakers include Nicholas Richardson, sales manager at Kent Nutrition Group’s Blue Seal Retail Stores Division, and Rick Kersbergen, forage expert and former statewide Extension dairy specialist.
The event will also include a question and answer session with a local farmer panel and presentation of the Maine Hay Contest awards. More information, including the full agenda, is available on the program webpage.
Registration costs $20 and includes lunch and refreshments. The event will provide one pesticide credit for recertification.
Register by Thursday, Oct. 31, at umaine-extension.formtitan.com. To request a reasonable accommodation, contact Melissa Babcock at 207-581-2788 or [email protected].

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
