PALMYRA — A man who was critically injured earlier this month in a stabbing in Palmyra has died, according to an official.
Todd Parsons, 48, succumbed to his injuries Oct. 18, a week after the stabbing, Shannon Moss, public information officer for the Maine Department of Public safety, announced Thursday.
Parsons’ body was taken to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for an autopsy.
The official cause and manner of death were not released Thursday.
The stabbing at 482 Madawaska Road was reported just before 3 a.m. on Oct. 11.
The victim, who was not identified at the time, was taken to Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield, then to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, where he was listed in critical condition.
At the time, the Maine State Police described the stabbing as an “incident” that led to a road closure. The road was closed for most of the day as detectives interviewed people and evidence response technicians processed the scene.
The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit and Somerset County Sheriff’s Office were investigating the stabbing.
