“Antidisestablishmentarianism” was the term used in 1968. To us lads it meant disdain for the “establishment,” particularly regarding the military draft and the American-Vietnam War; no to “cannon fodder.”
Today I think, “why would people want to vote for con-man Trump?” I believe it is because people are still tired of the “establishment”! These are some of the same people and attitudes that have festered. The “establishment” fighting the “drug war” over marijuana, using Army National guard helicopters with a Red Cross flying warrantless at 400 feet spying on peoples’ homes looking for the dreaded marijuana plant with a bounty of $100 for every “root ball” recovered, and seizing property; a police commercial venture.
“Establishment” intrusion into peoples’ lives is the reason, I think, people vote for Trump. Not because they like his ridiculous non-sensical antics but because he is not talking and acting like the “establishment.”

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
Comments are managed by our staff during regular business hours Monday through Friday and limited hours on Saturday and Sunday. Comments held for moderation outside of those hours may take longer to approve.
