Trump ignored the middle class and poor during his administration. He’ll now neglect Earth itself and its new disease, global warming. He has pooh-poohed global warming and intends to burn oil and coal to generate electricity.
As an engineer, I understand global warming unchecked by massive human effort will cause billions — yes, billions — of people now living in mid-latitudes to die of heat and starvation. They will be only the first to die. We must reject Trump’s denial of climate disaster. Those billions will not die quietly while we North Americans and Europeans slowly, too slowly, change our energy-extravagant ways.
Worldwide violence and confusion will result with all sides having access to nuclear weapons. We must pour all we have into research, design, and action if we and all people are to survive. Humans have never before faced such imminent universal disaster.
