Michael Cummings, 46, of Litchfield, who was driving a 2009 GMC Acadia, was identified as the driver and was flown to Maine Medical Center in Portland by Lifeflight of Maine. He was initially taken by Gardiner Rescue to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

Hospital officials did not immediately have information about Cummings’ status, but law enforcement said he suffered “severe injuries.”

Witnesses reported a vehicle traveling at a high speed on Huntington Hill Road and discovered a vehicle rolled over into a ditch, with the driver ejected from the vehicle. Speed and alcohol appear to have been factors in the crash, and it was unclear whether Cummings was wearing a seat belt, according to the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office.
