WINSLOW – It is with much love and sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Theresa Marie (Duguay) Plante, on Nov. 7, 2024.
She was born on Oct. 18, 1931, and was raised in Winslow with 12 brothers and sisters in a loving Catholic home. Theresa was the daughter of John and Anne (Joseph) Duguay. Mom graduated from Winslow High School in 1950, where she enjoyed being head cheerleader, and after graduating, she married Roland Plante. They shared beautiful fun filled times together raising their family and living life to the fullest measure.
Mom worked in the retail market for many years, and so enjoyed working with her customers at Sterns Department Store, Montgomery Ward, and W.T. Grant. After losing her husband suddenly in 1981, she continued to lead a very full life, devoting herself to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, with whom Mom was extremely close. For Theresa, love of family, music and dancing were her true passions. Her sense of humor and laughter have given us all so many great memories that will last forever.
Mom was predeceased by her parents John and Anne Duguay; husband, Roland; brothers Don (Lillian), Omar, Albert, Eddie, Omer “Babe” (Norma), sisters Evelyn Morneau (Leo), Jeanne Carey (Harold), and Van Peters (Lee); and her dear friend from later in life, Bob Wilson. She was also predeceased by brothers and sisters-in-law Norman Plante, Roger (Noella Plante) Denis, Katherine Duguay and Cecile Gagnon.
Theresa is survived by her children Debra Gallant and husband Ernie, and Richard Plante and wife Cynthia; grandson, Todd Wentworth with wife Chris and great-granddaughter Jocelyn; granddaughter, Sarah Wentworth with partner Jake Olivares and great-grandson, Hayden Clement. Also surviving Theresa are brothers John (Nancy), Joseph, and Larry (Faye) Duguay, sister, Lorraine (Don) Reny, with whom she shared a special relationship; and sister-in-law, Frances Plante; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of Mt. Joseph of Waterville for the loving kindness shown to Mom during her time there. Thanks also to Constellation Hospice for such compassionate care.
There will be a mass of Christian burial on Friday, Nov. 22, at 10 a.m., St. John the Baptist Church in Winslow, with a reception at the Winslow VFW, 175 Veteran Dr., immediately following the service. Burial will take place at a later date at St. Francis Cemetery in Waterville.

In lieu of flowers, donations will be appreciated to the local Hospice organization of your choice.
