AUGUSTA – Blaine Adien Brown, Sr., 85, passed away on Nov. 12, 2024 at the Maine Veteran’s Home in Augusta. He was born on Jan. 28, 1939, a son of Adien and Olive (Gifford) Brown.
Blaine grew up in Lee and as a young man worked on the railroad system. In 1962, he enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served for two years. Following his honorable discharge, he worked as a carpenter for Ganneston Builders for many years until his retirement.
Blaine was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a quiet man who particularly enjoyed family gatherings and visits while a resident at the Veteran’s Home.
He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Sandra Marshall and her husband, Horace; and his son-in-law, David Bumford.
Blaine is lovingly survived by his children, Blaine A. Brown Jr., and Elaine Bumford; his grandchildren, Phillip Gallant and his wife Stacy, Melissa Gallant, and David Bumford and his wife Ana; his great-grandchildren, Logan Mercer, Reese Gallant, and Amy Bumford; his siblings, Ansil Brown, sister-in-law Ann (Shirley) Brown, Brenda Akeley and her husband Carl, Norman Brown and his wife Naida, and Robert Brown and his wife Bernadine; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Maine Veteran’s Home for the great care they provided to our Dad.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 11 a.m. at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 584 Maine Ave., Farmingdale, ME 04344. A committal service will follow at 1 p.m. at the Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 143 Blue Star Ave., Augusta, ME 04330 at the committal shelter.
