OTISFIELD — The 2nd annual Live Nativity will be presented at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at Field of Faith on Lodge Hill at 437 Bean Road. It is free and open to the public.
Rick Mowery, pastor of the Spurrs Corner Church said, “The thought was conveyed to me over and over that our community needed this — a reminder of the true story of Christmas,” referring to the Biblical record of the birth of Jesus.

“It was so good to see the regional community get together” for the first presentation in 2023, he said. “Field of Faith is a perfect venue to present a Live Nativity,” he said, thanking owners Ken and Jen Hawley.
Last year, over 210 people of all ages filled the renovated barn and overflowed to the paved patio to watch a cast of costumed people portraying Mary and Joseph, baby Jesus, angels, shepherds, the Magi and King Herod. Carolers provided music.
“It was great to see the diversity of ages attending, from the youngest child to the most elderly person, all seemed to enjoy it,” Mowery said.
“Having live animals this year is going to add so much to the atmosphere,” he said.
Another change is having the holy family and angles in the back entrance of the barn that opens to the large lighted patio.
“If we have half of the number of people that showed up last year we still wouldn’t have room to all fit in the barn,” Mowery said.
This year, the crowd will gather around the patio. Large speakers will be set up so everyone can hear the narrator reading accounts of the birth from the Bible.
Refreshments, including chowder and finger foods, will be available after the pageant.
There is also more parking space this year so no one will have to park on the Bean Road. Parking gates will open at 4:30 p.m.
Ushers will be available to assist those with handicaps and handicap seating will be available on the patio.
There will be two port-a-potties and a permanent outhouse.
