Gage Suitter scored 15 points to lead Morse to a 50-36 win over Waterville in a season-opening boys’ basketball game on Wednesday in Waterville.

Waylon Rhorer and Dylan Root added eight points for Morse.

Garrett Gendreau hit three 3s and led Waterville with 12 points, and Derek Couture finished with eight.

BUCKFIELD 82, TEMPLE 44: Trenton Haskell scored a game-high 29 points for the Bucks in their season-opening win over the Bereans in Buckfield.

Haskell made seven 3-pointers. Nolan Litchfield added 12 points for Buckfield, which pulled away by outscoring the Bereans 29-2 in the second quarter.

Ricardo Louis finished with 15 points for Temple and Peyton Reckards added 14.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

MORSE 39, WATERVILLE 15: Reese Darling scored 15 points as the Shipbuilders beat the Purple Panthers in a season opener in Bath.

Rebekah Plummer added six points for Morse.

Madison Gervais scored five for Waterville.

MARANACOOK 46, MONMOUTH ACADEMY 41: Celia Bergdahl and Alice Ferran each had a double-double for the Black Bears (1-0) in a win over the Mustangs (0-1) in Readfield.

Bergdahl had 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Ferran had 10 points and 15 rebounds for Maranacook.

Tarynn Keleher led Monmouth Academy with 11 points, while Kaitlyn Frost added nine points.

BUCKFIELD 38, TEMPLE 19: Kianna Finnegan scored a game-high 10 points for the Bucks in their season-opening win over the Bereans in Buckfield.

Sara Devoe and Chloee Bennett each added eight points for Buckfield (1-0).

Mia Fitzpatrick scored seven points for Temple (0-1).

MOUNTAIN VALLEY 47, OAK HILL 43: Madison Dow scored 17 points to lead the Falcons to a win over the Raiders in Rumford.

Dow made 9 of 12 at the free-throw line, including 5 of 6 in the third quarter. Alianna Mazza chipped in eight points for Mountain Valley (1-0).

Breanna McElhaney scored a team-high nine points for Oak Hill (0-1), and Kendall Theriault added eight points.

WINTHROP 44, DIRIGO 28: Ella Rice led all scorers with 11 points as the Ramblers defeated the Cougars on opening night in Winthrop.

Madeline Wagner and Evelyn Mortimer each contributed eight points for Winthrop (1-0).

Abby Luczynski scored 10 points for Dirigo (0-1), and Diana Cayer had six points.
