Wreath salesman Travis Morgan is kissed by his Pomeranian dog named Bear as they stay warm in their truck while selling Christmas wreaths Dec. 4 at a stand set in the parking lot of the Notre Dame de Lourdes Parish Center along Water Street in Skowhegan. Morgan says he was selling 12-inch and 18-inch wreaths for $25 and $35, respectively, adding that he and his girlfriend, Wendy Dawe, hand make the wreaths from clippings they get from Quinn’s Tree Farm in Cornville. Thank you, Rich Abrahamson, for the picture of the year in two categories: heartwarming and funny. The long chuckle and warm glow that transcended as I kept enjoying the moment was a rare response to the usual stories on the pages of my daily paper.

I would have liked to have driven up to Skowhegan and thanked the furry Pom and his loving owner for sharing their wonderful friendship.
